Chinatown
32"x 40", mixed media.
The Chinese New Year is marked by
a dragon ( in this case is made out of
the business section of the New York
Times) which blesses the local
populace and more importantly,
Chinatown's business
establishments.
This is one of the best visual feasts
in New York City's annual repertoire of
ethnic celebrations. Incorporated
in this landscape are the characters
which symbolize business, politics,
the military, sex, sweatshops, and
the chimera of homelessness, which
are the hallmarks of a modern
capitalist society.
